Cuba is a very safe place to vacation. One characteristic that profoundly affects the overall safety of the nation is the environment of the cities. As a general rule, travellers and Cuban citizens can enjoy an equal amount of security on the streets. This stands in contrast to most nations in which tourists are often targeted because of how much they stand out, and the assumption that some wealth surrounds them since they are capable of travelling. Another major aspect of safety on the streets of Cuba is the presence of police. In the average city, a police officer of some variety can be found with relative ease in the case of an emergency. This aspect of protection is only increased in popular tourist locations in which security officials can often be found only a block away.

Still, there are some concerns. Similar to many other vacation destinations, purse snatching and mugging can occur. Pickpockets are present in Cuba, especially in the more crowded parts of the city. These elements are present in Cuba; however these events are extremely rare by any global standards. For the most part, travellers can move around without worry by employing a small measure of street smarts. As a general rule the greatest concerns of vacationers to Cuba will be artefact peddlers and young people attempting to find employment for rather high prices, as guides.

However safe Cuba’s cities may be, before you arrive in Cuba you will need to be medically prepared. There are no mandatory inoculations, but it is still wise to check to make sure before you go. The most pressing ailment in Cuba is diarrhoea. Basic precautions in terms of food and water intake should solve this problem. Antibiotics, in extreme circumstances, could become necessary. There is some risk of rabies, but only if the individual travelling wanders into an environment where animal bites or scratches are likely. Basic vaccinations should be up to date, but there are very few unorthodox medications that are required before travelling to Cuba.

Other common medical precautions that are often required when travelling in the Caribbean are related to mosquitoes. In Cuba there have been outbreaks of Dengue Fever in recent years, but these outbreaks are currently under control. This fever results in flu-like symptoms that may be complicated by shock, and there is no vaccine to fully prevent it. There is currently very low risk of this disease because of significant mosquito control regimens employed by the Cuban government.

There are a few general measures you can take in order to protect you from insects. Wearing long sleeves, long pants, closed toe shoes and hats will provide the most basic protection. Insect repellents are also effective. It is important to note that repellents with higher concentration of DEET will provide longer lasting protection, but will also have a higher potential of releasing toxins into the body. DEET should be avoided for young children since allergies are possible. Other basic precautions include keeping unscreened windows shut at night and using a bed-net. These measures are very commonly expected in tropical regions, and Cuba’s restrictions are generally less stringent then those of other nations.

If something does go wrong medically, Cuba has what is required to meet all needs outside of major emergencies. The government has set up a system of hospitals and pharmacies under the name “Servimed.” While this system is often short on beds and supplies, it can provide for pressing needs. In the case of emergencies, medical evacuation to a country with state-of-the-art facilities is available. Overall, these services are much more adequate than those available in most Caribbean locations.

By following basic instructions, Cuba can be a very safe place to travel. Public transportation systems designed for tourists further reinforce this notion. There are buses designed for tourists that meet international standards, and registered taxis that are very reliable. Travellers need to be wary of unregistered taxis, as they can often be a ploy used by thieves, but overall the taxi system is very reliable. Getting around is generally something that can be done without too much extraneous effort. One point that does need to be considered is driving outside of urban areas at night. While major highways are well made, they lack lights, and rural roads are generally worse. This problem can be easily avoided by simply travelling during the daylight hours.

Cuba overall is a very safe place to travel. There is little crime in the cities, and safe public transportation is often available. The medical system is designed somewhat to cater to tourists, and allows for enough protection that travellers can depend on it. The most attractive point, in many ways, is the medical accessibility of the area. Major vaccinations and other such precautions are not significant. This factor along with other safety precautions makes Cuba a safe place to spend a vacation.

It is a strange fact that as oil prices soar the number of jobs within the oil industry, especially in ‘upstream’ exploration and production, actually increases. As oil becomes more expensive more and more is needed to reduce the price. The Oil and Gas Industry is huge because the use of these natural resources is present in every aspect of modern life. Not only are these resources used as fuel but are ever present in the manufacture of everyday materials such as plastic, itself omnipresent in today’s world.

Within the Oil and Gas industry exploration is one of the fastest growing areas. As oil runs out, new reserves have to be found. Also newer methods of obtaining the oil need to be researched and developed. As the more accessible oil fields are used up new oil fields are found that are simply unobtainable through existing drilling methods. The exploration sector of the Oil and Gas Industry covers jobs such as geologists, drilling engineers, reservoir engineers and production engineers.

Commonly if there are cut backs in the ‘upstream’ jobs then there are cuts across the whole of the sector; similarly the adverse is also true. With an increase in jobs in the ‘upstream’ sector more jobs become available in the ‘midstream’ and ‘downstream’ sectors. Midstream jobs are concerned with the transportation and refining whereas downstream jobs are wholesalers and retailers. Of course there is a period of delay whilst upstream jobs increase in order to find new reserves, or easier ways of drilling existing reserves, but once more oil is made available for production and sale then the demand for midstream and downstream jobs grows proportionately.

Simply put, as oil prices soar, more oil is needed to bring the cost down and as jobs increase more oil is needed to work with. New oil reserves are found on a regular basis. Last year, for example, Brazil found a huge new oil reserve off of its coast. The new reserve, believed to contain between 5 and 8 billion barrels of attainable oil, is set to make Brazil one of the world’s largest oil producing nations. What’s more it is set to guarantee job growth in the sector into the near future.

So, even within the current economic climate of a global crunch, there is one market sector that is set to expand regardless. Whereas in other sectors, such as construction, jobs are being cut Oil and Gas Jobs are on the rise at all levels in upstream, midstream and downstream areas. In order to combat the affect that increased oil prices will have on every other aspect of life and in every other job market an increase in jobs in this sector becomes crucial.

Oil and gas price increases affect us all; not only does heating our homes become more expensive but so does the price of a loaf of bread as transportation costs grow due to fuel price increases and so on. Therefore the exploration and discovery of new reserves becomes a major priority; good news if you are looking for one of the rewarding jobs in this sector.

Although it was once considered a marketing tool for the big businesses, video marketing is now quite accessible to all entrepreneurs from newbie to big dog. With all of the tools available, it is possible to create videos for a fraction of the cost. This is good news for online entrepreneurs who could use a boost in their traffic numbers. Video marketing has proven to be one of the best ways to increase traffic and sales with a great return on investment.

Are that many people really watching videos? The answer is YES. Reports show that more than 50% of the U.S. population will watch videos online this year. Furthermore, video is an excellent tool for the many people who do not read well or have trouble comprehending the written word.

Video marketing also feels more like entertainment or education than advertising. People are growing tired of watching and reading advertisements or ads disguised as articles. Watching a video is more appealing and feels like less work on their behalf.

Marketing 101 tells us to look for what the people want and give it to them. That’s why video marketing is proving so successful. Whether it is informational, personal or primarily for entertainment purposes, video is better able to fulfill a need than ads or the written word.

Break it Down and Just Do It

Chances are, you have heard all about the wildly successful video marketing but you are unsure about how to utilize it for your own business promotions.

The key is to take it step-by-step:

Identify your video topic—Know your target market and what they want. While some people are looking for insider tips or an education, others are searching for entertainment or a way to get to know you and your business better. Consider these things as you determine the right tone and topic for your videos.

Come up with the perfect keywords—Choosing the right keyword for search engine optimization of your video is the best way to put your video to work for your marketing purposes. Good keywords are related to your business and niche; they should also have a high search volume. Identifying the right keywords may take some research, but it is worth the effort. There are many free online tools that can help you in your keyword research.

Plan out the production—Rather than just throwing something together and risking the chance of rambling or creating a confusing video message, plan out your dialogue. Do you want to write out the script or ad-lib? Either way, you want to make sure your message is clear and to the point. If you drift off into rambling conversation or get too dull, you’ll lose your viewer and possibly a potential sale. So keep it interesting and value-packed for your viewers and make sure your message is relevant and clear.

Know how to distribute your videos—So you have a video…what now? It is important to know how to distribute it in order to make the most out of your video. Programs such as Traffic Geyser can help walk you step-by-step through the distribution and promotion process. It makes the process pretty effortless, and will likely help you to get that great ROI you are looking for with your videos.
Whether you are hoping to benefit from a little YouTube traffic or just want to direct people to a video on your website, now is a great time to give video marketing a try. While it may seem overwhelming, with the right tools and a good understanding of the method, you can experience great success pulling in much-needed traffic.

Our biological clock makes us noticably slower after lunchtime. Professor Jan Snel is an expert within the consequences of coffee and claims that two cups of coffee is enough to avoid that effect.

By around four a.m. the human body is spinning on low while around 11 a.m. it is at its’ peak. But right after lunch the decent starts.

- Two cups of regular coffee, or about 200 miligrams of caffeine, will reduce alot of the slowness we experience right after lunch, says professor Jan Snel at the University of Amsterdam.

The professor is administrating a large staff of reseachers at the University of Amsterdam. Here the researchers are examining the reactions of persons subjected to caffeinated coffee against persons that are given coffee without caffeine whom are not told what type of coffee they are drinking. The research is focused on the effects of a dosage of 200 miligrams of caffeine, which is equivelant to the “normal” coffee intake for the average person a day.

- After 45 minutes we run diverse testing in order to document all the effects of coffee drinking. It is shown, over and over again, that the subjects that got the coffee containing caffeine could, amongst other things, work up a problem and receive information a lot quicker and keep focus a lot longer, Snel says.

The body’s clock

Chief physician Olav Skatvedt at Omnia Sleeping Clinic in Oslo agrees that coffee after lunch is good to compensate for the weariness that occurs.

- It is no doubt that coffee is a waker upper that can reduce the effects of our body clock that sets our daily rythm. The human body is dividing the day into four different stages. We are at our lowest late at night and at our highest at 10-11 a.m. A milder low and high are occuring around 3 p.m. respectively 7-8 p.m., says Skatvedt.

This expert of sleep informs us that sleeping issues are a big problem in the western world, not just in Norway.

- Over half of the population are getting not enough sleep. We go to bed too late and get up too early which is not enough to meet the needs of our bodies, he says, and underlines that the morning coffee most of us drink is helping us to start up in the morning.

Bracing scent

Professor Jan Snel informs us that caffeine pills cannot replace coffee.

- To drink coffee is not the same as taking caffeine. We have also done experiments that show that even just the smell of coffee is evoking some of the effects the caffeine is, tells the dutch professor.

He means that the scent of freshly made coffee has a bracing psychological effect due to the expectations we have for the beverage. He emphasises this to show that we use coffee not only to wake up, but to relax.

Our research shows that people become calmer when situations occur along with the coffee’s awakening effects, this works the psychological effects stronger than the caffeine, Jan Snel concludes.

Many people wonder about generating traffic to their websites through paid traffic offerings. This topic is highly debated among the industries top SEO managers because some believe in the practice and others do not.

Paid traffic services can be useful as part of an overall traffic generation strategy. I have used paid traffic services in the past and believe they do present some value when used in conjunction with Search Engine Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, and Email Marketing.

So What’s the Rub With Paid Traffic?

Have you ever wondered where paid traffic comes from? The services that generate paid traffic do it through a few key methods.

1. Traffic Exchange. Using this method, these sites sell access to their traffic exchange networks where individuals surf for credits. As they earn credits viewing websites like yours, their ads/websites are displayed across the network for others to click on. If this method is being used, you may certainly experience a decrease in performance only because the same individuals are seeing your ad over and over, reducing their likelihood to click.

2. Search Engine Marketing. A great way to generate traffic for others is through search engine marketing like Google, ExactSeek or Yahoo! Traffic generation sites buy keywords in bulk or many long-tail keywords and resell the traffic generated from them. If they can do this at a profit, its a win-win. This is a difficult strategy only because the cost of keywords change frequently based on industry demand.

3. List Marketing. Traffic generation websites also generate traffic through email marketing and house lists. These techniques are usually leveraged through daily, weekly, and monthly electronic newsletters. Driving less traffic than the first two methods, the list marketing option usually rounds out a comprehensive traffic generation strategy.

So to answer the question about paying for traffic, is it worth? My answer is that as part of an overall traffic generation strategy, paying for traffic can be beneficial. It all comes down to how you use paid traffic acquisition as part of your overall marketing strategy, the quality of the traffic generated and the costs associated with the traffic.

The other factor to consider is the quality of the traffic you receive. The purpose of most traffic acquisition strategies is to improve sales, generate leads, and/or conversions. To that end, I would only recommend paying for traffic if you have a way to measure the traffic to your site, the path the traffic takes through your website and whether or not that traffic actually converts. Whether you consider a conversion to be the completion of a web form or the actual purchase of a product, your buying this traffic for one reason and one reason only – conversion. Keep this in mind before you spend any money on traffic.

Although you can find plenty of sites willing to give you traffic in exchange for a fixed fee, I personally prefer to sign up for my own traffic exchange, purchase my own keywords, and manage my newsletters and email lists. By doing so, I have a better handle on where the traffic is coming from and ultimately the value of this traffic. Keep that in mind before you run out and spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on acquiring traffic that may or may not convert for your web site.

Of course, we all know exercise is good for us, even if we don’t do it. It can help us stay at a healthy weight, increase metabolism, boost our immune system function, and so on. One thing many of us might not know, though, is that it’s also good for business.

Why is this so? Because exercise keeps us healthier in general, we call in sick less often. It also boosts emotional health as well as physical health, so we are more motivated when we’re at work.

How Does It Improve Motivation?

If you start a regular excise program, you have to be disciplined. Sometimes, it’s hard to get started in the beginning, but it’s generally easier to keep going once you’ve established a routine. You might even begin to look forward to it, since working out also boosts emotional health and increases “feel-good” hormones called endorphins. This means that once you get started, working out can be its own motivation. And ultimately, that motivation can carry over into the rest of your life as well.

Because exercise is an overall energy booster, it improves mental clarity as well. It makes us healthier overall, which lets us function better mentally. And it won’t take long at all to see the effects. Within about two weeks, you should begin to see very positive results both physically and mentally.

If you’re having trouble getting started, start small. A short walk can do amazing things without much effort at all. If you’re frustrated or stuck on something, take a short break, take a brisk walk to clear your head, and then go back to the problem. Likely, you’ll find that you’ve discovered the solution while you were out. It helps you refocus once you’ve taken a few minutes to relax and simply let your body move around a bit, as well as giving your mind or rest.

Finding the Time to Exercise

Of course, everyone’s busy, and exercise is often a last priority. However, working out can actually make you more efficient, which will give you time for other things. The hardest part about exercise is getting started.

If you can, try working out early in the morning. This can give you a great start to your day by increasing alertness and feelings of vitality. If you work out early in the morning, you also get the workout over before you even start the rest of your day, which means after work, you can simply go home and enjoy your free time.

Many people work out after their workday is over, and this is fine. However, take care that you don’t do it too late. If you work out too late, you’ll interfere with proper sleep, since you have “revved your engines,” so to speak, making it hard to calm down and go to bed. If you exercise later in the day, make sure it’s at least two to three hours before you go to bed.

If exercising both before and after work is impossible, simply schedule “mini-workouts” during lunch or break times. You still get the benefits of exercise in smaller doses, and it will still increase your energy and make you more efficient. You might also find that the extra motivation in energy will let you get more work done in less time, so that you’ll then find the time to begin working out before after work.

Exercising is a wonderful tool for mental clarity, positive attitude, and increased motivation. In addition to the other benefits it provides, this is a positive boost to your business. Give working out a try and see what it does for you.

The trend of being eco-friendly is growing fast and now businesses can go green and save some green at the same time.

For businesses there are many costs that can be cut with the use of high-speed Internet. To make the office computers more energy efficient, the best place to start would be to figure out how much is being used in the first place. When the energy amount is figured out, reducing that amount can be implemented in different ways. Server consolidation is one of many options available to cut down energy use. By replacing a large quantity of computers with smaller, more powerful and energy-efficient units, the energy use can come down. Another option available to businesses would be to replace desktop PCs with notebooks which could reduce the consumption of power by 75 per cent or more.

Document management is another process by which businesses can cut costs. By reducing the amount of paper that is used to print off reports, with the help of document managing software, there is less paper to buy.

For large businesses the implementation of video conferencing or Web conferencing is a way to bring together members from all over without having to fly anywhere. Video conferencing allows two or more locations to interact via two-way video and audio transmissions simultaneously. This option greatly reduces the cost of travel while cutting harmful emissions. In the past, video conferencing was grouped in with a boardroom-style image but it is not restricted to large meetings anymore. Video conferencing can be used on any desktop with the proper software.

Web conferencing, which has become a growing trend as well, is very similar to the concept of video conferencing – just without the video. Web conferencing has many features that include polling and exit surveys which can gather valuable data to determine how effective the Web-based seminar or ‘webinar’ was. The ‘webinar’ is a way to deliver a message to a large group of people at the same time. Meetings can be recorded and saved later for viewing or distributing, and text chat can be used for live question and answer sessions.

Another option is the idea of virtualization, which essentially tricks multiple copies of an operating system into thinking they are running on real hardware when in fact an additional software layer is used to enable multiple virtual machines to co-exist on one physical computer. This method means that multiple virtual servers can run on one physical server with greater efficiency.

But there are also simple ways to reduce costs and emissions in the office which could include arranging equipment into properly isolated hot and cold aisles which would reduce cooling costs.

With these options available it would seem that many companies would be on board, however, that is not the case. Many companies have yet to make the switch because of the inconvenience that may come with switching to a green option. However, the time that is used to go green could result in many worthwhile financial benefits.

These days, cell phones can do a lot more than just making phones. Most new phones being released each year have a number of added features, including ways to keep track of news headlines, as well as music software direct on your phone. Not only can you listen to your favorite music, but you can even download new tracks whenever you want!

No matter where you are, being able to listen to your own music is a great convenience. In many cases this means using a portable MP3 player, as well as bringing along your cell phone in case anyone needs to get in touch. But buying a cell phone will built in MP3 is a great way to meet all your needs by only carrying one device.

It can be hard to keep track of multiple devices like MP3 players, and it can be extremely easy to misplace them! For most of us, we always know where our cell phone is making it a lot more convenient to keep track of just our cell phone rather than an MP3 player as well. The phone provides one of our most important needs, and that is communication. Most of us rarely go out without our cell phones on us, making it extremely easy to remember our music as well – since they are all on the same device!

If you have a cell phone that’s compatible with MP3 music then you will need to find a reliable download source. There are many of these websites now available due to the rise in popularity of MP3 phones. Many of them promise ‘free’ content but you have to look out for hidden charges such as costs of making phones or downloading on your cell phone. You could also choose paid music stores such as iTunes, though downloading a few albums can quickly add up if you go this route.

If you are looking to save money then you could choose a download service that allows you to pay a relatively small membership fee each month in exchange for the ability to download unlimited songs. These songs are yours to keep so long as you keep up the membership – a small price in comparison to paying for each individual MP3! You can even find these mobile content sites that allow you to download videos and games on top of your MP3s, if your phone is compatible, making it a true multimedia experience that is really worth the cost you have to pay.

Cell phones with MP3 and games features are more expensive than basic models, and the chances are you are not making the most of everything that your phone has to offer. Since you have already paid a good amount of money for your phone, why not make the most of it by signing up to a mobile content site and having access to thousands of songs, games and videos?! It really is the simplest and most convenient option.

While working from a home office presents several advantages, it also entails many concerns that are not faced by people working in a traditional workplace setting. One of the major issues is ensuring safety for you, your employees and clients. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, workplaces with less than 10 employees experience a disproportionate number of work-related deaths. And home-based businesses top that list. We’ve put together a checklist of the most common home office hazards. Use the following guide on home office safety to learn how to protect yourself, your people and your business:

o Walk areas: Falls are one of the most common causes of home accidents. So take steps to ensure that it doesn’t happen. Keep floor surfaces level and dry; carpets need to be well secured to the floor to avoid tripping. Do not have electrical or telephone cords in walkways. Stairs with four or more steps should be equipped with handrails.

o Fire hazards: Fire is one of the greatest potential dangers in a home office. Keep combustible materials to a minimum and dispose of trash promptly. Install a working smoke detector and fire extinguisher at your workspace. Plan a fire escape route and keep all fire exits free and clear of any obstacles. Have regularly scheduled fire drills.

o Electrical outlets: Have a qualified electrician check your electrical circuits and install additional outlets. All circuit breakers or fuse panels should be labeled and accessible. Make sure your electrical components have sufficient ventilation. Home office safety is greatly enhanced when electrical plugs, cords, panels and receptacles are maintained in good condition. Computer equipment should be connected to a surge protector. Phone lines, electrical cords and extension wires should be secured under a desk or alongside a baseboard.

o Air quality: Poor air quality in the home office can cause or exacerbate a number of respiratory ailments. To avoid this, work in a well-ventilated area. Use fans to increase air circulation. Ban smoking within the office. Properly handle office chemicals and store them in a safe and secure storage area. Install a carbon monoxide detector.

o Computer set up: Workstations should be arranged in such a way that they are comfortable and do not cause unnecessary strain on the back, arms or neck. Computers should be placed either on a desk of standard height or in a workstation specifically designed for their use. A computer chair with good back and arm support and position should be used and the keyboard should be placed directly in front you at approximately elbow height.

o Child safety: If you have young children and expect them to spend any time in your home office, it is imperative that you “childproof” your working space. Keep all sharp office implements away and out of reach of small children. Cover unused sockets with plastic covers. Use a surge protector with an on-off switch that can easily turn off the source of power. Consider keeping your children out of the work areas in the larger interest of home office safety.

o Other common practices: Do not store any item on top of tall cabinets or other furniture. Limit storage to designated areas. Do not locate file cabinets near entrances or heavily-walked through areas where open drawers can become a hazard. Do not open more than one file drawer at a time as this can cause the cabinet to tip over. Unless in use, store common office equipment like scissors, letter openers and staplers safely in a drawer or other secure location. Chairs and office furnishings should be structurally sound so that their usage does not cause injury.

You should have an adequately stocked first aid kit and be ready to seek medical treatment, if necessary. Home office safety and the prevention of work-related injuries and illnesses should be one of the top priorities on your list when running a business from your house.
